I guess I'm not clear on the rules, how come make up companies can make claims about beauty products that rarely hold water, but Sketchers get busted for using a chiropractor to make a similar claim? I buy "as seen on TV" frog tape, and the paint bleeds through even though they SWEAR it won't. I know my hair isn't going to look like JLo's when I use Pantene...I don't get it. Is it the chiropractor that changed the playing field here?
(And I'm a sucker for shiny things, too!)

Just a few comments:

Unless the little boy arrived moments before the ball was thrown, it's hard to imagine the couple who caught the ball had no idea that there was a kid sitting next to them (much less, a crying kid). Most people who go to a ball game understand the protocol: Give up any baseball to the nearest bright-eyed child, lest you run the risk of being vilified. Case in point.

That being said - this is a pretty harsh repercussion. I can only imagine all the vicious remarks on YouTube right now (on each of the 50 postings of the same footage).

Chances are, if these folks are taking their kid to a Yankees game, he's not too deprived...and hopefully this experience won't result in any lasting therapy.

You're right....This isn't very newsworthy.
Please disregard everything I just wrote.

The Daily Beast can be brilliant; it can also be snotty and self-important. (Tina Brown-- what do you expect?) But what this points to in a bigger picture way is the pathetic disdain society has developed for arts, literature, creativity and the general pursuit of knowledge for its own sake. Nothing has value any more unless it can be measured in dollars. We have stripped the arts out of most primary school education and we gripe when any tax funding goes to the arts.

As for numbers 11 and 12-- they speak for themselves. As the saying goes, those who ignore history are doomed to relive it.
