Marketers and 9/11. Do They Mix?

If you were like me and watched hours of tear-jerking 9/11 anniversary coverage on Sunday, you were also inundated with new commercials from companies like State Farm, Anheuser-Busch and Verizon observing the day as well.

Advertising Age posted these commercials yesterday and posed the questions: What did you think of the efforts? Who did it the right way? Did anyone do it the wrong way?

The responses were overwhelmingly negative.

Michael Stout: Shameful. These spots involved people sitting around tables for over a year plotting how they could take advantage of the abject horror of 9/11. If … Continue Reading

The Packers Got Me Hired

The choice by President Barack Obama to schedule his jobs creation speech before the NFL’s season opener was more symbolic than football fans may realize.

Google has come under fire so many times for it’s spying, the news has become a part of pop culture. Loyalty as a Matter of Priority

How about priority deplaning?

Really? Priority boarding, for me?

Apparently so, beginning today. As a Delta Skymiles member with an American Express gold card, I am now entitled to priority boarding benefits, along with a 20 percent discount on all in-flight cocktails, food, movies and other items.

I stumbled upon this factoid in a New York Times story, but assume I’ll get the good word from Delta soon enough. It is the latest perk I have received as a member of its Skymiles plan, following free checked bags, which were offered … Continue Reading
